How to Make Jalapeño-Infused Vodka

Homemade Spicy Recipe for Bloody Mary Mix - Shrimp Salad Circus (4)

One of the secrets to a truly spicy bloody Mary co*cktail is in the vodka. You can infuse vodka with so many different flavors, but I love jalapeños for mine. Other popular infused vodkas for bloody Marys include bacon, black pepper, or pickle.

Here’s how I make my

Ingredients

  • Vodka
  • 1-3 fresh jalapeño peppers

Instructions

1. Pour vodka into a jar or pitcher with a lid.

2. Thinly slice jalapeños, discarding the seeds.

3. Add jalapeño pepper slices to the jar, and put the lid on.

4. Leave the jar in a cool, dark place, like a cupboard, to infuse.

5. Give it a quick shake every couple hours, tasting a spoonful periodically.

6. When it’s as spicy as you want, scoop out the peppers.

Do you want a really spicy vodka? Use more jalapeños, and leave the mixture to infuse for longer. Less spicy? Use fewer peppers and less infusion time. I used two peppers and infused for about 12 hours for mine.

You can store the vodka just like you would with the unflavored stuff. Either keep it in a sealed jar, or pour it back into the vodka bottle.
