"This is from our church cookbook, it's truly delicious. Everyone digs into this at a potluck. When I make this for just us, I build it in 2 pans, freezing one for later."

  1. This was good. I used Italian Seasoning instead of the oregano. Easy to make. My guys didn't leave a spoonful. Thanks Inez.

  2. Mmmm..delicious Inez! I didn't put in any olives (just because my family didn't like them) but the dish was great! I have always been on the lookout for good spaghetti recipes, and this is one of them!

  3. This was definitely a hit for our family. We were out of onion and 1/2 of us don't like green pepper, so I put in more black olive. It still turned out great. Hubby Lance gobbled up all the left-overs (approx 6 servings) in less than a day and a half. We will make again!

  4. I made this without the ground beef and added 1 large clove of pressed garlic to the sauce. It came out excellent and the leftovers were even better!

  5. I tried this based on the reviews and was pleasantly surprised how wonderful it was. Even switching the ingredients to the "healthier" versions it was still wonderful. My 2 and 4 year olds loved it and both wanted seconds. Thanks for a great recipe!

Tweaks

  1. Made this with a few changes....I omitted the olives, mushrooms and oregano. I used sweet Italian sausage and Italian blend cheese, also added about 3 minced garlic cloves, I used a strong garlic base sauce and instead of water I used red wine....it was yummy!! I was ordered by my family to make this again!!

  2. This was very good. I did make a large amount of changes, though - some because of personal preference and some because of necessity. My husband doesn't care for spaghetti so I used shell macaroni instead. Also, I discovered I only had a 14 oz. can of diced tomatoes, so I used that and added a 15 oz. can of tomato sauce and a 4 oz. can of tomato paste. I added a small amount of sugar to cut the tomato acidity, and instead of layering this I mixed the macaroni and the meat sauce all together. I didn't use olives as we don't care for them. I sprinkled the top with one layer of cheddar cheese, then topped with the soup and parmesan. Very good, and this will give me lots of leftovers to take to work!

  3. This dish was excellent! Really easy to prepare and the green peppers packed a lot of flavor! I used a 4 cheese mix instead of cheddar and added about a cup more than the recipe. Would try using spaghetti sauce instead of canned tomatoes also.

  4. This was good. I used Italian Seasoning instead of the oregano. Easy to make. My guys didn't leave a spoonful. Thanks Inez.

After DH and I moved away from the farm, and to the city...I haven't done as much cooking and very little canning. But I do come to Zaar and look for new recipes once in a while. I'm still cooking Zaar!! I like to play at Facebook, with my family and friends. A lot of my Zaar friends are there!! Yay! It's a good way to keep in touch. We travel more. We're looking at the European trips now. Hope to go in the springtime. I really want to see London, I think I lived there in a past life, I've been obsessed with it since I was 10 years old!!
