Awesome so glad Sharon thanks for telling us! Li-An will be happy to hear this, one of my full time assistants, because she actually created this recipe while she was on P2! Not one of the recipe developers. She actually won an award in Singapore for that recipe by a miracle noodle brand – cool huh!

    Hi,
1st let me tell you what a blessing you have been to me!!
I have not yet tried this recipe, but I can’t wait to try it!
My question is this: let’s say I have this recipe and a different one for dinner and I haven’t reached 500 calories, would I add a fruit to one of my meals to make up the extra calories I am needing?

Hey Katherine! Thank you for sharing those kind words, really and truly. If you haven’t had other fruit in the day, then for sure I could see adding a fruit. I think as long as you keep to the 2 servings or less of the fruits, yes that’s fine. Hope that helps!

I made this and it is AMAZING but I used ground chicken instead of beef. How much do you think that affected the calorie count? Thank you for all you do!

That’s a totally fine swap- if you are using 100g of your meat protein per serving on hCG, that’s all you need to track- the calories between the P2 meats in those 100g portions do vary alittle, but not by much and it’s nothing to be worried about. Love, Rayzel

FAQs

Should mushrooms be cooked before adding to spaghetti sauce? ›

Sautéing mushrooms before adding them to spaghetti helps to enhance their flavor. By cooking them in a hot pan with a little oil or butter, you can achieve a beautiful caramelized texture and deepen the mushroom's natural umami taste. This step is optional, but it greatly enhances the overall dish.

Can you have nutritional yeast on an HCG diet? ›

Other HCG Diet Flavor Boosters

I prefer the spray bottle as one or two sprays will evenly coat your plate. Nutritional yeast can also offer a nice flavor boost. Sprinkle 1 tbsp evenly across your plate and enjoy! Vanilla extract, almond extract and stevia are also nice additions to the program.

Should I cook mushrooms or meat first? ›

Finely chopping the mushrooms and onion allows them to blend seamlessly into the ground beef. Cooking the veggies down before adding the meat is a must in order to bring out their meaty texture and umami-rich flavor.

Which mushrooms are best for spaghetti sauce? ›

The best mushrooms for pasta are Portobello, Crimini, Shiitake, Chanterelle, Morel, Oyster, and Porcini. Each kind of mushroom is best with various types of pasta. Dried mushrooms are a better choice as they regenerate quickly and can be stored for longer, retaining their nutritional value and flavor.

When should I add mushrooms to my tomato sauce? ›

Chop tomatoes then add to the pot along with 2 cans diced tomatoes with juice. Boil uncovered over med/high heat for 15 mins, stirring occasionally. Add fresh sliced mushrooms and 1 cup chopped fresh basil and simmer uncovered another 20-25 minutes or until the mushrooms are fully cooked and the sauce is thickened.

Should I sauté vegetables before adding to spaghetti sauce? ›

When you want a fresher, more unique taste than what you can find in the stores, you can add some sauteed vegetables to bring out a crisp flavor. WonderHowTo writer Gabrielle Taylor explains: Dice up some vegetables and sauté them in a little oil before adding the sauce.

Can you overcook mushrooms in sauce? ›

According to America's Test Kitchen (via Splendid Table), mushrooms only need five minutes of cooking in order to get tender. After that point, you can realistically remove them from the heat. If, however, you choose to continue cooking your mushrooms, or simply lose track of time, nothing much will happen.
